A lot is the standardized unit size for a forex trade. A standard lot is 100,000 units of the base currency; a mini lot is 10,000; a micro lot is 1,000; and a nano lot is 100.
Why It Matters for Partners
Lot size is what lot rebate payouts are calculated against — a program advertising “$5 per lot” means $5 for every standard lot’s worth of volume a referred client trades, paid whether or not the broker itself made money on that trade. That’s different from revenue share, which pays a percentage of the broker’s net revenue instead of a flat per-lot amount. Either way, lot volume is watched closely for wash trading and volume manipulation: inflating lot volume without real trading intent is the most direct way to inflate a rebate payout.
