Margin call happens when a trader’s account equity falls below the broker’s required maintenance margin, prompting the broker to ask for more funds or automatically close positions (“stop out”) to stop the account going further negative. It’s a risk-management trigger built into how leveraged trading works, not a penalty or a broker decision made case by case.
Why It Matters for Partners
Frequent margin calls are often an early signal that a referred client is over-leveraged or trading too aggressively for their account size. For revenue share and spread share partners specifically, an account that keeps getting stopped out tends to churn out of the program fast — which is part of why how a client trades matters as much as how much they deposit at signup.
