Partner Federation Glossary — last updated September 2026
Tier is a level within a structured partnership program — used two different ways in this industry. It can mean a level in a multi-level referral chain (a Master IB sits above Sub-IB tiers beneath it, earning an override on each one), or a volume-based level that raises a partner’s own payout rate once their referred trading volume crosses a threshold, as in a volume-tiered loyalty program.
Why It Matters for Partners
It’s worth being clear which meaning a program intends before assuming a rate applies. A multi-tier override structure (see Master IB / Sub-IB) is about where a partner sits in a referral hierarchy; a volume tier is about how much a partner’s own referred clients trade. Confusing the two can mean expecting a rate that hasn’t actually been earned yet.
