Partner Federation Glossary — last updated September 2026
FTD (First-Time Deposit) is the first successful funding deposit a newly referred client makes into their trading account. It’s the qualifying event most forex and CFD affiliate programs use to trigger a CPA payout — the moment a signup becomes a paying client.
Why It Matters for Partners
FTD is the actual conversion partners get paid on — not the signup. Brokers rarely pay CPA on a deposit alone, though: qualifying almost always bundles the FTD with a minimum deposit threshold and completed KYC, and sometimes a minimum trade volume on top. A client can make a first deposit and still not “qualify” if they don’t clear the rest of the criteria. See CPA Affiliates for how that full qualifying bundle works in practice.
Example: A broker might require a $250 minimum FTD plus completed KYC before releasing a CPA payout — it’s that combination, not the deposit by itself, that counts as “qualifying.”
